Louisiana eCrash Ready for Use

Baton Rouge, LA - The updated Louisiana crash report and new reporting software Louisiana eCrash is ready for use by all law enforcement agencies statewide. The new crash report is aligned with the Model Minimum Crash Criteria V. 5 (MMUCC) guidelines, and will capture necessary data to improve highway safety throughout the state.

The Center for Analytics & Research in Transportation Safety (CARTS) has worked with several agencies to successfully pilot the application and created an Onboarding Checklist to assist agencies with migrating from LACRASH to Louisiana eCrash. In addition, several videos have been created that cover user role functions such as approval of reports, assigning users by shift within an agency, modifying accounts, and more.

The rollout of Louisiana eCrash is anticipated to take six months and will occur between March and August. Agencies are strongly encouraged to begin the transition process as early as possible. Transition to Louisiana eCrash is mandatory for law enforcement agencies in Louisiana as prescribed by LRS 32:398. Paper reports and reports via the old LACRASH system will no longer be accepted by the state once the rollout has been completed.

CARTS will work with agencies to ensure the transition to Louisiana eCrash is as smooth as possible. Each agency should have a main agency contact that will be responsible for the implementation process. Agencies may verify their contact information, submit changes, and add new contacts to CARTS records by completing this short survey.

The Center for Analytics & Research in Transportation Safety (CARTS) is responsible for collecting, maintaining, integrating, analyzing and distributing crash-related data captured from law enforcement and other agencies throughout the State of Louisiana. CARTS utilizes this data to develop business intelligence (BI) and GIS tools, perform research studies and produce an annual factbook. These tools and publications are used by decision-makers to identify potential problem areas, create countermeasures, set policies, and establish programs to improve the safety of our roadways in Louisiana.
