2023 Louisiana Crash Data Summary Report Now Available

Baton Rouge, LA – The Center for Analytics & Research in Transportation Safety (CARTS) is pleased to announce the recent release of its annual crash data report for 2023.
Dr. Helmut Schneider, the Executive Director of CARTS, recently presented an overview of 2023 crash statistics in a virtual briefing sponsored by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission. His annual data report offered updates and explanations of trends in crashes, fatalities, and injuries for that year as well as in a multi-year context.
To correspond with Dr. Schneider's briefing, CARTS also released the 2023 Louisiana Traffic Records Summary Report, a compilation of charts and statistics. This report covers crash trends and emphasis areas such as level of severity, weather and roadway conditions, age, and occupant protection; it also offers a look at some trends over a multi-year period.

About CARTS
The Center for Analytics & Research in Transportation Safety (CARTS) is responsible for collecting, maintaining, integrating, analyzing and distributing crash-related data captured from law enforcement and other agencies throughout the State of Louisiana. CARTS utilizes this data to develop business intelligence (BI) and GIS tools, perform research studies and produce an annual factbook. These tools and publications are used by decision-makers to identify potential problem areas, create countermeasures, set policies, and establish programs to improve the safety of our roadways in Louisiana. CARTS is a center within the E.J. Ourso College of Business at LSU.
